The Albanian American Organization of Southwest Florida (AAOSWFL) was established in 2016 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit by Petrit Brega, Grigor Lako, and Genti Puro, who recognized the growing need for a dedicated community organization to support Albanians in the region. With the help of other passionate individuals, they worked together to form AAOSWFL as a space to connect, celebrate, and assist the local Albanian community. Over the years, their vision has grown into a thriving network of members united by a shared culture and purpose.
AAOSWFL is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code. Its mission will be to promote the well-being and progress of the Albanian-American community of Southwest Florida; to maintain and develop the Albanian language, culture and traditions; to advocate on behalf of the Albanian American community for their common or individual good and welfare. Consistent with the mission it is further agreed that the Organization's focus will be as a cultural and social organization for the community and that it shall conduct and/or sponsor programs, projects, and activities designed to support its purposes and objectives with a long-term vision to create a permanent and sustainable community center.
AAOSWFL is led by a dedicated team of unpaid volunteers who serve as our Board of Directors. Together, we work to support and uplift our local Albanian community. We welcome anyone passionate about our mission to apply for a board position. Board members contribute by paying an annual membership fee of $200, helping to sustain the organization's efforts and initiatives. Join us in making a difference!
